Overview
The City of San Ramon is seeking a full-time Traffic Signals Maintenance Specialist to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on traffic signals, street lighting, and other electrical systems. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs complex systems and equipment in traffic signals, street lighting, and electrical systems.
- Maintains records of installation, maintenance, and repair orders.
- Inventories and orders supplies, parts, and equipment for projects.
- Inspects contractor’s work and monitors compliance with specifications.
- Coordinates and acts as a task or project lead for installation and maintenance work.
- Responds to emergencies and coordinates repairs.
- Operates specialized equipment and vehicles related to maintenance work.
- Observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment.
- Assists in preparing and monitoring project budgets.
- Provides training and demonstrations to new employees.
Requirements
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
- Three (3) years of semi-skilled maintenance work experience.
- Valid California class C driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in maintenance, construction, and/or repair of traffic signals.
- Completion of college level coursework and/or certification in electricity or electronics.
- IMSA Roadway Lighting Technician Level I certification or equivalent.
- IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level I certification or equivalent.
- IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician I certification.
- IMSA Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control certification or equivalent.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot communication networks.
Additional Information
- May be required to be on-call and work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
