Overview

The City of Eugene Wastewater Division is seeking to hire a Wastewater Maintenance Mechanic 1/2 to perform journey-level equipment maintenance at a large activated sludge wastewater treatment plant and related facilities. The position requires specialized skills and offers a competitive salary based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains pumps, blowers, engines, generators, and other specialized equipment.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance inspections and lubrication on industrial equipment.
• Monitors and troubleshoots methane powered engine generators.
• Makes necessary equipment adjustments and repairs according to maintenance procedures.
• Assists in scheduling work and equipment shutdowns.
• Develops and modifies mechanical maintenance procedures under supervision.
• Trains others in maintenance techniques and safety procedures.
• Performs major, minor, and routine maintenance on various wastewater treatment equipment.
• Troubleshoots and isolates problems in malfunctioning equipment.
• Cleans spills and maintains a neat work area.
• Maintains computerized and written reports and maintenance work records.

Requirements

• Valid Oregon driver's license or ability to obtain by hire date.
• Possession of a State of Oregon Journeyman Certificate in a work-related trade or equivalent experience.
• Wastewater Maintenance Mechanic 1: Two years of relevant technical experience.
• Wastewater Maintenance Mechanic 2: Four years of relevant technical experience.
• Knowledge of maintenance principles and practices in wastewater treatment.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform maintenance on wastewater equipment.
• Ability to read and understand complex blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds.

• Location: Wastewater Treatment Plant, 410 S. River Ave, Eugene.
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
