Overview

The 2nd Shift Custodian position involves cleaning and maintaining a school building, requiring knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment operation, and basic trades. The role includes interacting positively with students and staff while ensuring safety and compliance with school procedures.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned areas using various cleaning products and equipment.
• Performs scheduled cleaning duties such as sweeping, washing, and restocking restrooms.
• Handles trash and cleaning solvents with proper sanitary precautions.
• Conducts routine building maintenance activities like checking boilers and changing filters.
• Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and tools.
• Identifies maintenance needs and safety hazards in assigned areas.
• Provides basic information to the public regarding building locations and events.
• Moves and sets up furniture for events and cleans facilities afterward.
• Receives and stores cleaning supplies appropriately.
• Communicates with supervisors regarding issues that arise during shifts.
• Ensures security of the facility by checking locks and setting alarms.
• Responds to after-hour emergencies as needed.
• Performs similar or related work as required.

Requirements

• General knowledge of cleaning materials and methods.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry trades.
• Computer skills may be required.
• Ability to interact positively with students, staff, and community members.

Additional Information

• Work hours are from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
• New employees will be hired on an appropriate step based on experience.
