Overview
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic position at King County's South Plant involves performing repair and troubleshooting for mechanical maintenance tasks in a unionized setting, offering opportunities for professional growth and advancement. Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of complex machinery used in plant operations.
- Install, repair, and maintain piping and plumbing systems for sewage, water, gases, chemicals, and solids.
- Design, fabricate, and repair plant piping, equipment guards, and bases.
- Plan equipment repairs using blueprints, engineering drawings, and other resources.
- Collaborate with CAD personnel to provide as-built drawings for parts/material ordering and modifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and maintenance.
Requirements
- Knowledge and hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, valves, and other rotating equipment.
- Skill in safely using hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
- Ability to understand and apply information from blueprints, schematics, manuals, and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards, including lockout/tagout and confined space entry.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with coworkers.

- Work Location: South Treatment Plant, 1200 Monster Rd SW, Renton, WA 98057.
- Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites.
- This position is covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
- This position is represented by SEIU Local 925 - Wastewater Treatment Division.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and report to the plant during adverse weather conditions.
