Overview
This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Welding department at Rogue Community College, which will remain open until June 2026 unless positions are no longer needed. Instructors are responsible for planning and implementing various welding courses, maintaining college standards, and engaging with students and the community.
Responsibilities
- Instructs students in a classroom, lab or other setting in courses such as fundamentals of welding, fabrication and repair, drafting/blueprint reading, and metallurgy.
- Prepares, distributes, and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi and supplementary materials.
- Develops, communicates, and utilizes a student assessment process related to course objectives.
- Participates as a team member in departmental meetings and planning activities.
- Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed.
- Engages in regular professional growth activity based on an approved professional growth plan.
- Represents the Welding Department and the college to the community and other organizations in a professional manner.
- Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- An Associate of Science degree in welding, manufacturing or industrial trades is required.
- A Bachelor's degree, teaching experience, and certifications such as certified welder or certified welding inspector are preferred.
- Manufacturing processes, welding, and teaching experience at the high school or college level are preferred.
- Three to five years of direct industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial welding, fabrication and repair, drafting, and metallurgy to industry standards is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse students, staff, and community members.
- Ability to work with non-traditional adult learners and teens.
- Ability to incorporate current technology into instruction and demonstrate enthusiasm in teaching welding.
- Ability to adapt to various teaching situations and participate in student advising programs.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
