Overview
As a Welder with the Department of Transportation, you will take on essential metalworking tasks that strengthen public infrastructure. This job allows you to use advanced tools and techniques while improving equipment that supports transportation operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, brazing, and metal cutting on various metals using approved methods.
- Diagnose issues, make repairs, and fabricate parts for equipment and structures.
- Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and maintain a clean and secure work area.
- Keep small inventories, assist with grounds work, and complete related duties as needed.
- Apply environmental protection requirements and attend required training.
- Make observations, complete reports, and communicate findings clearly.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures.
- Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment.
- Completion of an approved welder apprentice program.
- A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Information
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Mandatory or unscheduled overtime may be required to support operational and seasonal needs.
- You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
