Overview
The Maintenance Operator performs a wide range of maintenance, repair, equipment operation, and construction tasks to ensure the proper operation and safe utilization of the city's street, park, public grounds, and sewer systems.
Responsibilities
- Operates a wide range of large equipment including loaders, backhoes, graders, and street sweepers.
- Performs street maintenance tasks such as plowing, de-icing, snow removal, and pavement repair.
- Maintains athletic fields by applying herbicide and fertilizer, grading, and mowing.
- Responds to sewer back-ups and lift station alarms as assigned.
- Reconstructs and repairs catch basins and carries out emergency response duties during storms.
- Constructs and maintains park buildings and picnic shelters.
- Installs and removes sanders, wings, and plows on trucks.
- Identifies, trims, removes, and replaces trees in public right-of-ways and parks.
