Responsibilities
- Performs various tasks involving water utilities maintenance projects.
- Locates service connections and breaks; installs, repairs, or replaces valves.
- Disassembles, maintains, and paints pumps, motors, pipes, and hydrants.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Assembles and repairs backflow devices and bacteriological sample stations.
- Conducts cross-connection control inspections of customers.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls when scheduled for on-call duty.
- Repairs main/service breaks and evaluates service calls.
- Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department projects.
- Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools operable.
- Transports, loads, and unloads equipment and materials used in projects.
- Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Five months of related experience.
- Fingerprinting required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Must complete the Sacramento Water Distribution Operator correspondence course within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess Backflow Prevention Testing & Assembly certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess a valid Class 3 Water Distribution Technician certification within 18 months of hire.
- Must possess and maintain IMSA Work Zone Safety certification within twelve months of hire.
- Must possess Florida Department of Transportation Traffic Safety in the Work Area certification within twelve months of hire.
