Overview

The Maintenance Laborer at the airport performs a variety of tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and improvement of airport facilities, including operating construction equipment and conducting repairs. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of airport systems and maintenance equipment.
• Repair runway/taxiway and associated systems, roads, bridges, and other airport facilities.
• Assist Airport Technician/ARFF personnel in maintenance and repairs.
• Perform airport beautification tasks involving gardening and garbage control.
• Conduct snow/ice removal and control operations.
• Conduct movement area safety checks.
• Operate hand tools and power tools.
• Perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Respond to emergencies at the airport involving disabled aircraft.

Requirements

• Valid State of Alaska driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Current CPR card.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to operate and assist in the routine maintenance of airport equipment.
• Physical stamina and endurance.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Experience in facility and equipment maintenance and equipment operation.
