Overview
This position involves skilled welding and fabricating work, requiring the use of various welding tools and techniques to work with ferrous and nonferrous metals. The role includes maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment, operating under the supervision of an Equipment Mechanic Foreman.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled welding using various methods including heliarc, MIG, and TIG.
- Cut and shape metals to fabricate parts and repair equipment.
- Work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Select proper welding heat and type of electrodes.
- Braise, solder, and coat metals.
- Operate and maintain welding shop machinery and equipment.
- Prepare estimates of labor and materials.
- Order welding supplies and locate repair parts.
- Enter and retrieve data using a computerized fleet management system.
- Assemble and disassemble equipment as needed.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and light mechanical repairs.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
- Minimum of three years of paid experience in welding or fabricating.
- Possession of a valid State of Ohio driver's license.
- Considerable knowledge of welding practices, materials, and tools.
- Thorough knowledge of various welding processes.
- Ability to set up and care for welding equipment.
- Ability to work safely in a team environment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
