Overview
The Adjunct Instructor for Computer Integrated Machining Technologies is responsible for providing effective instruction, advising students, maintaining accurate records, and evaluating curriculum. This part-time position is temporary and based on the needs of the institution each semester.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective learning experiences for students using various teaching methods.
- Give students a course outline with measurable learning objectives at the beginning of each course.
- Develop and submit up-to-date course outlines to the Department Chair and Vice President before teaching.
- Regularly assess student success rates and submit this information to the department chair annually.
- Contact students who are absent from class.
- Schedule regular student contact hours and post the schedule before the end of the add period.
- Maintain the classroom environment and report problems timely.
- Ensure shop and lab safety within current regulations.
- Safeguard and keep accurate inventory of instructional and office equipment.
- Leave classrooms suitable for the next class.
- Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students and submit reports on schedule.
- Present recommendations for improving instructional programs to the Department Chair.
- Provide input on supply, textbook, resource, and equipment needs for instruction.
- Attend all scheduled faculty meetings unless there is a class conflict.
- Participate in ongoing curriculum review and implement necessary changes.
- Stay updated on changes in technology and obtain required certifications.
- Instruct online or technology-based courses as needed.
- Use Web Attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the efficient operation of NCC.
- Support ongoing assessment, planning, and evaluation to improve student learning.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Machining Technology, Computer-Integrated Machining, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience in the machining field is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology or a related field is preferred.
- Must possess a minimum of four industry-recognized certifications or obtain them within one year of hire.
- Prior experience must include programming and setup of manual lathes, mills with CNC controllers, and CNC machine tools.
