Job Description

Overview

The College of The Albemarle, located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, is seeking an Instructor for Welding Technology to provide education and promote student-centered learning activities. The role involves teaching various aspects of welding, curriculum development, and maintaining an effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, teach, and evaluate courses in welding fabrication and repair.
  • Update course syllabi as needed each term.
  • Develop supplemental teaching materials for courses.
  • Implement new teaching strategies and integrate technology in instruction.
  • Evaluate textbooks for relevancy and quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
  • Stay current with industry technology and standards.
  • Submit student data and reports timely.
  • Advise students on their progress and provide guidance.
  • Participate in curriculum development and planning.
  • Maintain a hazard-free environment adhering to safety standards.
  • Assist with faculty recruitment and mentoring.
  • Participate in professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated competencies in welding fabrication, inspection, and repair.
  • At least two years of work experience in the field.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Knowledge of current welding codes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills.

Additional Information

  • Position is open until filled with a priority review date of February 6.
  • Position is subject to availability of budgeted funds.
  • 9 Month Faculty position.
