Overview

The General Maintenance Technician II at Pitt Community College performs a variety of maintenance duties under general supervision, including HVAC maintenance, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs. This role requires being on call for emergency assistance and maintaining the college's facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs HVAC maintenance, checking air supply and equipment, services air-handling units.
• Assists with electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance jobs around the campus.
• Constructs, assembles, and installs lightweight steel or aluminum stud framing.
• Measures, cuts, fits, and secures drywall panels.
• Tapes, mudds, sands, and paints surfaces.
• Performs routine/preventative maintenance on various systems.
• Maintains records and operates a computer-based work order system.
• Operates various types of equipment after proper training.
• Performs on-call service for emergency maintenance on weekends and holidays.
• Removes broken tree limbs, unloads trucks, and assists with storm clean-up and snow removal.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Vocational/technical education in a related maintenance field or at least four years of experience.
• HVAC/Electrical experience.
• Experience in drywall, framing, and painting is a plus.
• Working knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures.
• Must possess and maintain a valid N.C. driver's license and complete CDL training within the first year of employment.

Additional Information

• Work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings across the college campus.
• Normal working hours are Monday to Friday with on-call rotation during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
