Overview

The Pottawattamie County Building and Grounds Department is hiring a full-time Maintenance Worker II to perform intermediate manual work, including routine maintenance, service, and repair duties for County equipment and properties.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test heating and air conditioning machinery and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of machines and equipment.
• Fabricate, replace, and repair parts and equipment using electric and gas welders.
• Maintain various maintenance logs and reports on machinery and equipment.
• Perform repairs on electrical fixtures and equipment.
• Conduct plumbing repairs and install water pipes and fixtures.
• Conduct carpentry work including repairs and replacements.
• Maintain, operate, and repair mobile and in-house generators.
• Operate pickups, trailers, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
• Perform snow removal on sidewalks and assist with parking area snow removal.
• Assist County and state offices with moving furniture and equipment.
• Unload and store supplies, equipment, and parts from vendors.
• Operate a County vehicle safely and in compliance with traffic laws.
• Conduct routine inspections on assigned vehicles.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Moderate experience in manual and power tools and equipment.
• General knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Weekday, daytime hours with flexible availability for on-call situations.
