Overview
The Pottawattamie County Building and Grounds Department is hiring a full-time Maintenance Worker II to perform intermediate manual work, including routine maintenance, service, and repair duties for County equipment and properties.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and test heating and air conditioning machinery and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of machines and equipment.
- Fabricate, replace, and repair parts and equipment using electric and gas welders.
- Maintain various maintenance logs and reports on machinery and equipment.
- Perform repairs on electrical fixtures and equipment.
- Conduct plumbing repairs and install water pipes and fixtures.
- Conduct carpentry work including repairs and replacements.
- Maintain, operate, and repair mobile and in-house generators.
- Operate pickups, trailers, forklifts, and other heavy machinery.
- Perform snow removal on sidewalks and assist with parking area snow removal.
- Assist County and state offices with moving furniture and equipment.
- Unload and store supplies, equipment, and parts from vendors.
- Operate a County vehicle safely and in compliance with traffic laws.
- Conduct routine inspections on assigned vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Moderate experience in manual and power tools and equipment.
- General knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
