Job Description

Overview

Reliance One is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join one of their client partners in Flint, Michigan. This role begins as a 6-month contract with a strong opportunity to transition into a direct-hire position.

Responsibilities

  • Install, alter, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems per plans, specifications, and code requirements.
  • Fabricate, test, balance, and maintain climate control and heat transfer systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, including compressors, condensers, pumps, piping, and controls.
  • Fabricate non-standard components using metalworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Install and test fixtures, apparatus, and controls under specified operating conditions.
  • Perform emergency repairs and system adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair documentation.
  • Assist with system specifications and performance planning for proposed installations.
  • Apply new technologies and process improvements to increase system efficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams, contractors, and other trades to complete projects on time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman-level Plumber or Pipe Fitter with documented HVAC training or 4+ years of experience in building trades, maintenance, or industrial HVAC repair plus completion of an approved HVAC/R program.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC safety practices, hazards, and warm air/hydronics heating codes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Physically able to stand, stoop, climb ladders, and work in varied temperatures.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
  • EPA-approved refrigeration certification (required).
  • Ability to obtain a Warm Air or Hydronics Heating License within two (2) years of hire.
