Overview

The Maintenance Worker - Seasonal position involves performing manual and semi-skilled work under the supervision of crew leaders to maintain parks, facilities, trails, greenbelts, and ponds for the City. The role requires dexterity, the use of various tools, and the ability to work in adverse environmental conditions, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, weed eating, edging, blowing, pruning, planting, trimming, and sodding.
• Clean and clear debris and refuse from City property regularly.
• Conduct regular and preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on assigned equipment.
• Paint, clean, maintain, and repair municipal property, structures, and facilities.
• Utilize various manual, gas, and hand-held electrical tools and equipment for installation or repair tasks.
• Occasionally work special events that may fall on evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Report for work punctually and work all scheduled hours, including required overtime.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age.
• Knowledge of semi-skilled manual work in maintenance of municipal parks and ball fields.
• Familiarity with manual, gas, or electrically powered tools and equipment.
• Awareness of potential hazards of materials and equipment used.
• Knowledge of occupational safety rules and practices.
• Ability to perform manipulative tasks requiring eye/hand/foot coordination.
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.
• Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to work in a variety of adverse environmental conditions.

Additional Information

• Position may require working evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
• Must maintain a physical condition and standards necessary for the proper performance of duties.
