Job Description

Overview

The Bridge Welder is responsible for welding, brazing, heating, and cutting metals for the repair and maintenance of fixed and movable bridges. The role focuses on ensuring bridges and related structures are safe and functional through various welding techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Welds metals using acetylene, electric arc, and other welding equipment for bridge maintenance.
  • Prepares materials for welding by preheating, cleaning, and fitting according to specifications.
  • Fabricates metal parts for bridge repairs using hand and power tools.
  • Repairs leaks in metal roofs and walls through soldering, crimping, and welding.
  • Alters and repairs motor vehicles and equipment by welding and replacing parts.
  • Services tools and equipment by cleaning, repairing, and sharpening them.
  • Maintains masonry on bridges and related structures using appropriate tools.
  • Performs related duties such as determining repairability of materials and installing reinforcements.
