Overview
As a Welder II at G&W Electric, you will perform moderate to advanced welding tasks, ensuring the assembly and quality of various subassemblies and assemblies. G&W Electric is a global leader in engineered electrical power grid solutions, committed to employee success and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld subassemblies and assemblies using various equipment.
- Fit parts using torch or carbon arc or hand grinding equipment.
- Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch.
- Select electrode size and type, tips and welding rod or wire as required.
- Regulate gas for proper atmospheric control, current and voltage for penetration and fusing of metals.
- Check and straighten gasket surfaces and grind excess weld from finished work.
- Lay out and secure work involving heavy parts and assemblies.
- Perform moderate to advanced Mig/Tig Welding in various positions.
- Perform preventive maintenance procedures as needed.
- Provide personal tools as required.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Contribute to team effort by training others in welding tasks.
- Inspect all work to ensure it meets requirements.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
- Train others on proper welding procedures and techniques.
Requirements
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
- At least one year of formal welding training or equivalent experience.
- Three years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to safely use small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools, and welding equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to perform Mig and Tig welding in various positions.

Additional Information
- Work schedule is from 1:00pm to 9:30pm, 2nd Shift.
- Work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level.
