Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting plant operations by completing engineering and maintenance projects, designing processes for manufacturing needs, and providing engineering support to various operations including welding and assembly-line processes.
Responsibilities
- Ensure applicable quality standards are met in the introduction of trailer products.
- Responsible for continual improvement of process and product quality.
- Manage engineering design process, installation, MPAP, and long-term technical support of the manufacturing process while meeting quality, capability, and cost targets.
- Automate existing processes and lead CAPEX projects.
- Provide PLC programming and controls support.
- Ensure tools and fixtures required to support processes are available and in good working condition.
- Introduce new parts and processes to support developing products.
- Coordinate installation of new production processes in the facility required to produce trailer products.
- Create mechanical designs for project work throughout the facility.
- Assist with improving methods and reducing costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years experience performing engineering work ideally for a metalworks operation.
- Experience with controls and PLCs to include programming ability.
- Knowledgeable of robotic systems as used with manufacturing.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication and MIG welding processes.
- Experience working with various tooling and fixtures.
- Experience with CAD and CAM technology.
- Working knowledge of procurement processes.
- Proven success in solving problems and making decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Effective interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and aid intraorganizational coordination and cooperation.
