Overview
The Boilermaker position involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and associated equipment. Candidates should have 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience and will work with various tools and equipment to ensure the proper functioning of pressure vessels.
Responsibilities
- Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects.
- Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
- Inspect assembled vessels or components for defects.
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts.
- Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy parts.
- Weld pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leakproof joints.
- Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
- Install various components in water tube boilers using hand tools.
- Study blueprints to determine part locations and dimensions.
- Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates.
- Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections.
- Position and secure structural parts to boiler frames.
- Locate and mark reference points on boiler foundations.
- Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels.
- Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and brushes.
- Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
- Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirements.
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
- Valid State ID.
- Valid Driver's License.
