Overview
Austin Industrial is an industry leader in maintenance, construction, and soft craft services for industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker role involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects.
- Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
- Inspect assembled vessels or individual components for defects.
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
- Attach rigging and signal crane or hoist operators for heavy lifting.
- Bell, bead with power hammers, or weld pressure vessel tube ends.
- Lay out plate, sheet steel, or heavy metal and mark bending and cutting lines.
- Install manholes, handholes, taps, tubes, valves, gauges, or connections.
- Study blueprints to determine locations and dimensions of parts.
- Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
- Shape seams, joints, or irregular edges of pressure vessel sections.
- Position, align, and secure structural parts to boiler frames.
- Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on boiler foundations.
- Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels or piping.
- Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
- Install refractory bricks or heat-resistant materials in fireboxes.
- Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirements.
- NCCER Boilermaker certification.
- Valid Driver's License and TWIC Card.
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
