Overview

Hooper is a well-respected electric power and mechanical contractor that has been in operation since 1913. The Mobile Truck and Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial trucks, trailers, and construction equipment used in electrical construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose problems and perform repairs on major truck systems including diesel and gas engines.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Understand hydraulic systems and electrical schematics.
• Operate various equipment including dozers, backhoes, skid steers, and cranes.
• Ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT inspection requirements and regulations.
• Use basic shop tools including welders, cutting torches, and air tools.
• Fabricate with steel as needed.
• Complete detailed written repair orders accounting for labor and parts.
• Maintain familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Communicate effectively with field staff and management.
• Keep logs and records of all maintenance functions.
• Practice workplace safety.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Completion of diesel tech school program preferred.
• Maintain a class A CDL in good standing including a federal medical card free of restrictions.
• Ability to make decisions without close supervision.
• Ability to climb ladders and steps and work on equipment surfaces.
• Ability to travel and work outside at all times of the year.
• Physically demanding position requiring continuous standing, walking, and lifting.
