Job Description

Overview

The MIG Welder/Fabricator position involves interpreting blueprints, operating MIG welding equipment, and ensuring high-quality fabrication and assembly of metal parts. The role requires strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Set up and operate GMAW/MIG equipment to join carbon steel parts.
  • Weld prepared parts and sub-assemblies, aligning components using jigs and fixtures.
  • Conduct visual and tactile inspections of finished welds for defects.
  • Clean and maintain welding guns and perform minor troubleshooting on machinery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, often supplemented by a vocational welding program.
  • Welding certification is NOT required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds and work in physically taxing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills for team-based projects.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and wearing required PPE.
  • Must show examples of welding experience including previous workplaces.
