Overview

RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Welder Technician for its facility in Grand Prairie, TX. This position involves supporting the refurbishment of aero-engine and Industrial Gas Turbine airfoils through various welding and repair operations.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed instructions from the leader/supervisor for development, repair, and restoration projects.
• Layout work requirements and gather necessary equipment for repair and alteration operations.
• Perform TIG welding operations to fabricate or restore parts and tools.
• Utilize measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
• Identify and arrange for the repair or replacement of equipment as necessary.
• Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures.
• Conduct daily walk-around checks of all equipment and machinery used during welding operations.
• Assist others with new process tryouts and specialized assignments.
• Collaborate with other trades on joint projects.
• Refer difficulties or complex issues to the leader/supervisor.
• Maintain logs and records to communicate findings.
• Train for, obtain, and maintain licenses, operator permits, and certifications.
• Conduct visual wear and dimensional inspections as required.

Requirements

• HS diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in welding various types of metals.
• Working towards CORE Apprentice certification.
• Strong analytical and creative troubleshooting skills.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
• Excellent judgment and professional maturity.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Ability to perform visual wear and dimensional inspections.
• Successfully complete a welding certification test.
