Overview
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and boiler systems within a manufacturing environment. This role includes executing capital projects and performing various maintenance tasks, with expected hours of 40 hours a week and a varied shift schedule.
Responsibilities
- Reassemble machines after completing repair or maintenance work.
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair.
- Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment according to specific procedures.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
- Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
- Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
- Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse to maintain machinery and work areas.
- Clean machines and machine parts using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- One to two (1-2) years related maintenance experience.
- Prior experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and boiler maintenance preferred.
- Mechanical background with rotating equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Electrical/mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of measuring gauges such as tape measures.
- Knowledge of various hand and power tools.
- Prior experience operating a forklift.
- Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of basic math, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.
- Ability to use hand and portable tools, gas and arc welder, forklift, pickup truck, testing equipment, tape measure, and computer.
Additional Information
- Expected hours of work are 40 hours a week with a varied shift schedule of 8-10 hour shifts.
- Occasional overtime and weekend hours are required.
- No travel is required.
