Overview
The 2nd Shift TIG Welder position involves performing TIG welding on black carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe assemblies in a fast-paced production environment. Ideal candidates will have experience with high-volume, repetitive welding tasks and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding on black carbon steel pipe up to 8 inches, including 4-inch pipe assemblies and carbon steel to stainless-steel welds.
- Weld elbows and flanges that connect to compressors, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent joints.
- Complete welds through all three welding phases: root pass, fill pass, and cover cap.
- Properly prepare materials for welding, including grinding, beveling, and cleaning to ensure weld-ready surfaces.
- Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, including wire-fed machines, in accordance with production specifications.
- Maintain consistent weld quality while working on a moving production line with a strong focus on takt time and cycle time.
- Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures at all times.
- Work efficiently in a line-driven, repetitive production environment rather than a custom or job-shop setting.
- Collaborate with production team members to meet daily output and quality goals.
- Participate in and successfully complete weld tests, including black steel welds, as part of the qualification process.
Requirements
- Proven TIG welding experience with black carbon steel.
- Proven TIG welding experience with stainless steel.
- Demonstrated ability to weld dissimilar metals, specifically carbon steel to stainless steel.
- Extensive and recent experience with steel welding, including successful completion of weld tests.
- Strong understanding of pipe preparation, including grinding, beveling, and fit-up for flanges and elbows.
- Proficiency in performing root, fill, and cap weld techniques to production standards.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing weld quality.
- Understanding of takt time and cycle time within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience working on or alongside a moving production line in a high-speed, production-focused setting.
- Ability to perform TIG welding using a wire-fed machine.
- Capability to handle repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

Additional Information
- Work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
- There is currently mandatory overtime on Fridays to meet production deadlines.
- The position requires the ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds and stand and walk for extended periods.
