Overview
The Boilermaker position at Austin Industrial in Pasadena, TX involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and related equipment. Candidates should have 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience and will perform various tasks including inspecting and repairing boiler fittings and engaging in direct cleaning of boilers.
Responsibilities
- Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects.
- Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
- Inspect assembled vessels or components to locate defects.
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
- Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy sections.
- Bell and weld pressure vessel tube ends for leakproof joints.
- Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
- Install manholes, taps, tubes, valves, and gauges in boilers.
- Study blueprints to determine part locations and dimensions.
- Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates.
- Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections for fit.
- Position and secure structural parts to boiler frames.
- Locate and mark reference points on boiler foundations.
- Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels to premises.
- Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and brushes.
- Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
- Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirements.
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
- NCCER-BM Exch KV certification required.
- Valid Driver's License required.
