Overview

The Boilermaker position at Austin Industrial in Pasadena, TX involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and related equipment. Candidates should have 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience and will perform various tasks including inspecting and repairing boiler fittings and engaging in direct cleaning of boilers.

Responsibilities

• Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects.
• Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
• Inspect assembled vessels or components to locate defects.
• Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
• Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy sections.
• Bell and weld pressure vessel tube ends for leakproof joints.
• Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
• Install manholes, taps, tubes, valves, and gauges in boilers.
• Study blueprints to determine part locations and dimensions.
• Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates.
• Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections for fit.
• Position and secure structural parts to boiler frames.
• Locate and mark reference points on boiler foundations.
• Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels to premises.
• Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and brushes.
• Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
• Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.

Requirements

• No minimum education requirements.
• 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
• NCCER-BM Exch KV certification required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
