Job Description

Overview

The job involves Fluxcore Welders who are responsible for welding components in various positions and ensuring the quality and integrity of the welds. The role requires knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux according to specifications.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs to complete electrical circuits.
  • Connect and turn regulator valves to adjust gas flow and pressure for desired flames.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods based on knowledge of metallurgy and geometry.
  • Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating or warping of materials.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers or power tools.
  • Prepare material surfaces for welding by removing foreign matter.
  • Preheat workpieces prior to welding or bending using torches or heating furnaces.
  • Guide and direct flames or electrodes to manipulate metal workpieces.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Clean or degrease parts using wire brushes or chemical baths.
  • Cut, contour, and bevel metal plates to specified dimensions.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Fill holes and increase the size of metal parts as needed.
  • Check grooves, angles, or gap allowances using precision measuring instruments.
  • Operate metal shaping and bending machines.
  • Hammer out bulges or bends in metal workpieces.
  • Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal using thermal-cutting equipment.
