Overview

The Welder II position at Plug Power Inc. involves the construction of various products with a focus on welding and fabrication techniques. The role requires following specific welding processes and ensuring quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Operate appropriate equipment to assemble mechanical structures or parts with precision.
• Read blueprints and drawings, and take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
• Align components using calipers and tape measures, and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
• Ensure that welds meet ASME specifications.

Requirements

• Steady hand and great attention to detail.
• Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties.
• Proven experience as a welder.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW).
• Experience using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
• Minimum one year of welding and fabrication experience.
• Must be able to pass on-site welding test.
