Overview
The Welder II position at Plug Power Inc. involves the construction of various products with a focus on welding and fabrication techniques. The role requires following specific welding processes and ensuring quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Operate appropriate equipment to assemble mechanical structures or parts with precision.
- Read blueprints and drawings, and take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications.
- Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
- Align components using calipers and tape measures, and clamp pieces.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions.
- Ensure that welds meet ASME specifications.
Requirements
- Steady hand and great attention to detail.
- Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties.
- Proven experience as a welder.
- Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW).
- Experience using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing.
- Minimum one year of welding and fabrication experience.
- Must be able to pass on-site welding test.
