Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a degreed Welding Engineer who will play a critical role in both welding engineering and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) within a hands-on manufacturing environment. This position requires a strong technical foundation in welding processes, materials, and fabrication, combined with a disciplined approach to quality standards, inspection, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and implement welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualification records (WPQ).
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for welding and fabrication operations.
  • Lead and support QA/QC activities including inspections, audits, and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API as applicable).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve welding and fabrication issues.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure proper execution.
  • Oversee non-destructive examination (NDE) processes and interpret results.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to welding and quality processes.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and support customer/vendor inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, etc.) and metallurgy.
  • Experience with QA/QC principles in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (AWS, ASME, API, ISO).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
