Overview
Austin Industrial is a leading provider of maintenance, construction, and soft craft services to industrial companies across the U.S. The Boilermaker role involves constructing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing stationary steam boilers and auxiliary equipment.
Responsibilities
- Examine boilers and pressure vessels to locate defects.
- Bolt or arc weld pressure vessel structures and parts together.
- Inspect assembled vessels or individual components for defects.
- Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts using various tools.
- Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift heavy sections.
- Bell, bead, or weld pressure vessel tube ends for leakproof joints.
- Lay out and mark bending and cutting lines on heavy metal.
- Install manholes, handholes, taps, and valves in boilers.
- Study blueprints to determine dimensions and relationships of parts.
- Straighten or reshape bent pressure vessel plates or parts.
- Shape seams and joints of pressure vessel sections for fit.
- Position and secure structural parts to boiler frames or tanks.
- Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates.
- Shape or fabricate parts to adapt pressure vessels to premises.
- Clean pressure vessel equipment using scrapers and solvents.
- Install refractory bricks in fireboxes of pressure vessels.
- Assemble large vessels in an on-site fabrication shop.
Requirements
- No minimum education requirements.
- 4 years of Journeyman-level experience.
- NCCER certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- TWIC Card.
