Overview
This National Guard position is for a WELDER, responsible for performing various welding duties using different welding processes and techniques. The role involves repairing, modifying, and fabricating metal items for military equipment and components.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding duties using electric, acetylene, and inert gas shielded welding processes.
- Use templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, or fabricate metal items.
- Make numerous types of joints on light and heavy equipment such as axles and frames.
- Weld or reinforce heavy armor plate.
- Perform precision welding on jigs, dies, engineering, and automotive equipment.
- Braise dissimilar metals and flame cut metal to size for fabrication.
- Utilize basic sheet metal tools and equipment to repair and fabricate various equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
- Lay out, position, and clamp work, selecting appropriate rod and tip sizes.
- Adjust equipment to maintain proper speed, flame motion, and position for desired welding patterns.
