Overview

Hanson Iron, Inc. is a steel fabrication company with over 25 years of experience in the Silicon Valley area, specializing in heavy frame structural steel fabrication and installation for custom homes. They are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Welder Helper to support skilled welders in creating high-quality welds efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-welding preparation by cleaning metal work pieces and surfaces.
• Layout materials, tools, and metal components.
• Prepare welding machines and set up welding rigs and equipment.
• Support welding operations by positioning and holding materials/components in place.
• Weld assigned components, such as tack-welding, and operate power tools.
• Hand-off tools and equipment to welders and carry tools.
• Clean surfaces, materials, and equipment between welding passes.
• Complete post-welding finish work including cleaning, grinding, and brushing metal components.

Requirements

• Basic welding knowledge is beneficial.
• Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Must have the physical ability to perform intensive labor work.
• Must be able to reliably report to assigned work locations.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment screening process.
• Basic knowledge of how to use welding tools such as angle cutters, chipping hammers, and welding clamps.
