Overview

The Metallurgist Engineer I/II/Sr is responsible for ensuring pipeline safety and compliance with regulations, providing technical guidance, and assisting in the development of materials and welding specifications. The role involves collaboration with various teams and participation in audits and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Assist field operating locations to prepare for audits and inspections.
• Develop and manage the system integrity program for pipeline integrity management.
• Develop specifications for materials, pipeline construction, welding, and welding inspection.
• Coordinate outside metallurgical services and interpret laboratory analysis results.
• Provide guidance on integrity activities associated with materials to management and teams.
• Develop and provide interpretation and implementation recommendations for engineering standards.
• Direct failure investigations and prepare analysis reports.
• Analyze pipeline data management system deficiencies and advise on necessary corrections.
• Review welding procedure qualification tests and approve testing facilities.
• Ensure metallurgy-related procedures are current with the latest codes.
• Prepare and present training related to code compliance activities.
• Participate in industry risk management and integrity program activities.
• Coordinate federal and state pipeline safety agency audits.
• Represent the company on industry research and code committees.
• Provide technical leadership to staff.
• Provide technical input to assist in project planning.
• Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
