Overview
The Welder / Parts Repair Technician is responsible for welding repair and manufacturing turbine generator components, primarily using TIG welding. The role involves grinding and blending welds, disassembly and assembly of components, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Weld repair and manufacture turbine generator components, mainly using TIG welding.
- Grind and blend welds/parts to OEM/customer satisfaction.
- Disassemble and assemble turbine/generator components.
- Conduct part/component inspections.
- Prep and blend parts, including media blasting.
- Work with job site managers.
- Operate forklifts and cranes.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Support other areas of the shop as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the Power Generation Industry preferred.
- Availability for significant mandatory overtime during peak periods.
- Knowledge of precision measurement equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Ability to perform welding tasks on delicate components with precision.
- Ability to set up and operate welding equipment.
- Mechanical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to foresee changes relevant to area of responsibility.
- Ability to organize work assignments for efficient operations.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines set by customer and ARMS.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass drug test and background check.
