Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Tube Line Machine Operator/Welder 5 position involves operating machinery related to tube production and ensuring quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform Shear, Former, Burnisher, Straightening, and Cut Off set-ups to assure optimal performance.
• Adjust Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Mechanical, and Electrical devices.
• Initiate manual and auto cycles from Manual Controls or PLC touch panel.
• Use pneumatic powered tools to buff/grind product to specification.
• Use SMAW/Stick and GMAW/Gas Metal arc welder to repair split seams during production.
• Perform set-up of Straightener for varying sizes of tubes.
• Inspect product according to Valmont and Industry Standards.
• Maintain all equipment in designated area.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Notify Supervisor and/or Lead Person for maintenance assistance.
• Assist Maintenance personnel with maintenance and repair work.
• Keep assigned area clean.
• Help maintain housekeeping program throughout Tube Mill.
• Maintain safety awareness and correct unsafe conditions.
• Record and maintain data, setups, inspection, and product documentation.
• Operate forklift to move material in the shop areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of machine operation experience.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Pass a forklift test from Valmont’s safety department.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to deliver on-time, high quality results.
• Certification to GMAW.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel.
