Overview

Valmont Industries is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Tube Line Machine Operator/Welder 5 position involves the operation and setup of machinery related to tube production, working under the direction of a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform Shear, Former, Burnisher, Straightening, and Cut Off set-ups to assure optimal performance.
• Adjust Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Mechanical, and Electrical devices.
• Initiate manual and auto cycles from Manual Controls or PLC touch panel.
• Use pneumatic powered tools to buff/grind product to specification.
• Use SMAW/Stick and GMAW/Gas Metal arc welder to repair split seams during production.
• Perform set-up of Straightener for varying sizes of tubes.
• Inspect product according to Valmont and Industry Standards.
• Maintain all equipment in designated area to assure proper working condition.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on all equipment.
• Notify Supervisor and/or Lead Person for assistance with maintenance and repairs.
• Assist Maintenance personnel as needed.
• Keep assigned area clean and maintain housekeeping program.
• Maintain safety awareness and correct unsafe conditions.
• Record and maintain data related to setups, inspections, and product documentation.
• Operate forklift to move material in the shop.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of machine operation experience.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Pass a forklift test from Valmont’s safety department.
• Read a tape measure.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Read and write clearly.
• Certified to GMAW.
• Use of Microsoft Excel.
