Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Pipe Welder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and welding of high-pressure piping systems. We pride ourselves on delivering "X-ray quality" results for our clients in the oil & gas, power generation, and chemical processing sectors.

salary: $21 - $27 per hour shift: First work hours: 7 AM - 5 PM education: High School

Responsibilities

  • Process Mastery: Execute high-quality welds using SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux-core), and GTAW (TIG) processes.
  • Positioning: Perform welds in all positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. Most importantly, mastering 6G position (fixed at a 45-degree angle) for certification.
  • Material Handling: Work with diverse metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and exotic alloys like Inconel or Chromoly.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and weld maps to understand layout and specifications.
  • Joint Prep: Clean, grind, and bevel pipe ends to ensure proper penetration and fusion.
  • Alignment: Use clamps, wedges, and "dogs" to align pipe sections according to strict tolerances before tack welding.
  • Cutting & Threading: Operate industrial saws, torches, and plasma cutters to cut pipe to exact lengths.
  • WPS Adherence: Strictly follow the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), which dictates the specific voltage, amperage, and filler metal required for a specific job.
  • Inspection: Conduct visual inspections of completed welds for defects like porosity, undercut, or slag inclusions.
