Job Description

Spherion is recruiting for welders for our client in the Brenham, TX area. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting, shaping, and joining pieces of metal using various welding techniques. You will work from blueprints and technical drawings to manufacture high-quality components and structures while adhering to strict safety standards. Responsibilities: Fabrication & Assembly: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and spatial diagrams to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Welding: Perform high-quality welds (MIG, TIG, and Stick) on various materials, including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, ensuring strong and clean joints. Preparation & Cutting: Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, or grind component parts as necessary to satisfy technical requirements and prepare surfaces. Quality Control: Inspect completed welds for defects, cracks, or deformities; ensure all finished products meet industry standards and company specifications. Maintenance & Safety: Maintain welding equipment and tools in clean, working order. Strictly follow all OSHA regulations, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Skills: Formal welding certification (e.g., AWS - American Welding Society certified).

Education: High School

Experience: 1-4 years

Qualifications: Technical Expertise: Proven experience as a welder with deep knowledge of MIG and Stick welding techniques. Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and accurately interpret mechanical blueprints and structural drawings. Tool Proficiency: Experience using standard fabrication tools, including grinders, plasma cutters, and measuring instruments (calipers, tape measures). Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in environments that can be hot, noisy, or dusty. Basic Math: Proficiency in basic shop math, including fractions, decimals, and geometry for layout calculations.
