Overview
Bilfinger is an international industrial services provider focused on enhancing efficiency and sustainability within the process industry. The Rig Welder position involves permanently joining metal parts using various welding techniques, ensuring safety and quality in the process.
Responsibilities
- Understand construction risks and communicate them to the supervisor.
- Select equipment and plan layout, assembly, and welding.
- Weld components in various positions.
- Secure parts in position for welding using bolts, clamps, and tack welds.
- Set up equipment and weld parts using different welding methods.
- Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling.
- Operate cutting equipment and various power and hand tools.
- Determine required equipment and welding method based on knowledge of metallurgy.
- Remove slag and rough spots from welded surfaces.
- Weld pipe and pipe assembly components using GTAW and SMAW procedures.
- Inspect and maintain gas equipment.
- Disconnect, remove, replace, and connect oxygen and acetylene bottles.
- Work with different types and sizes of materials.
- Perform tests and inspections on welded surfaces to discover flaws.
- Read blueprints and drawings to plan layout and procedures.
- Load, transport, and unload tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist in lifting and positioning materials during assembly.
- Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in welding carbon and stainless steel.
- Must pass weld test as determined per site requirements.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and isometric drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Must wear PPE in designated areas.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work individually and in a team.
- Ability to perform essential physical requirements in harsh conditions.
