Overview

MP Materials is a U.S. company focused on rebuilding industrial capabilities in autonomy, robotics, and electrification, with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain. The Fabricator/Welder role involves building and installing structural fabrications to support magnet manufacturing, requiring expertise in welding and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate structural components from plate, tube, angle, and channel.
  • Perform pipefitting and welding on carbon and stainless-steel process lines.
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, isometrics, and P&IDs.
  • Execute welding using GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, and SMAW across all positions.
  • Conduct layout and fit-up using jigs/fixtures and precision measuring tools.
  • Cut and form material using various cutting and forming tools.
  • Perform in-process and final quality checks and coordinate NDE as required.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on prototyping and new builds.
  • Rig, move, and install fabrications safely and operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
  • Maintain welding/fabrication equipment and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Complete documentation and record time and materials in SAP CMMS.
  • Follow all safety policies and actively participate in 5S and housekeeping.
  • Support planned outages, turnarounds, and urgent repairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of industrial fabrication/welding experience.
  • Proficiency in GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, and SMAW; FCAW experience is a plus.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills including weld symbols.
  • Demonstrated pipefitting ability to meet quality/tolerance requirements.
  • Competent with layout math and precision measurement tools.
  • Safe operation of forklifts and overhead cranes; ability to obtain/maintain certifications.
  • AWS D1.1 and/or AWS D1.6 certifications; ASME Section IX qualifications for pipe a plus.
  • Experience with sanitary tubing/orbital TIG and vacuum or high-purity gas systems.
  • Experience building jigs and fixtures; basic machining for fit-up.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and ability to interpret tolerance stacks in drawings.
  • Experience collaborating directly with engineers/designers.
  • Prior use of CMMS (SAP preferred) for work orders and tracking.
