Overview

Axiom Space is a leader in human spaceflight services and is developing the Axiom Station, a permanent commercial destination in low-Earth orbit. They are seeking a dynamic Welding Engineer to develop and support welding processes for flight and ground hardware in a complex work environment.

Responsibilities

• Support production operations on full-scale welded assemblies.
• Advise on Axiom Space welding requirements for various processes.
• Support welding-related Material & Processes group activities.
• Review design and engineering drawings to ensure welding requirements are met.
• Communicate project progress and potential issues to stakeholders.
• Implement and maintain agile project management methodologies.
• Perform additional job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or related field with 9+ years of experience.
• Advanced expertise in welding engineering with strong knowledge of AWS specifications.
• AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or ability to obtain certification within one year.
• Proven capability in tooling and fixturing design.
• Broad understanding of welding processes and material selection.
• Hands-on experience with various welding techniques.
• Expertise in developing and qualifying weld processes.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with aerospace hardware and NASA standards.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results in fast-paced environments.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

• Onsite position at the Space Station Development Facility (SSDF).
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is required.
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
