Overview
The Welding Auditor/Tester will perform welder testing and evaluation for potential candidates, conduct audits of welding operations for compliance, and assist in maintaining quality logs. TAS is a Houston-based company that delivers innovative modular systems for various applications, emphasizing a culture of integrity and customer focus.
Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor welding tests to determine eligibility of potential candidates.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections.
- Conduct guided bend testing.
- Coordinate subcontracted non-destructive testing methods as required.
- Conduct daily weld audits to ensure compliance with welding procedure requirements.
- Assist in issuing and recycling welders stamps.
- Log Welder Continuity records.
- Maintain the calibration log for welding machine calibrations.
- Document inspection results and generate reports detailing findings.
- Maintain testing weld consumable and parent material logs.
- Interface with other company departments for reports and information.
- Promote and enforce safety practices in welding operations.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards related to welding activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Welding Coordinator.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Technical education in welding and welding principles.
- Education and/or qualification in industry standard non-destructive testing practices.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with welding and welding standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Technical aptitude and ability to understand basic quality concepts.
- Proven ability to operate with integrity and handle confidential information.
- Demonstrated a high level of service and ability to be proactive.
- Ability to complete multi-step tasks and follow through to completion.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a team.
Additional Information
- Position involves 30% to 40% desk work and the remainder in a shop environment.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
- Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision.
