Overview

The Welding Auditor/Tester will perform welder testing and evaluation for potential candidates, conduct audits of welding operations for compliance, and assist in maintaining quality logs. TAS is a Houston-based company that delivers innovative modular systems for various applications, emphasizing a culture of integrity and customer focus.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and monitor welding tests to determine eligibility of potential candidates.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections.
  • Conduct guided bend testing.
  • Coordinate subcontracted non-destructive testing methods as required.
  • Conduct daily weld audits to ensure compliance with welding procedure requirements.
  • Assist in issuing and recycling welders stamps.
  • Log Welder Continuity records.
  • Maintain the calibration log for welding machine calibrations.
  • Document inspection results and generate reports detailing findings.
  • Maintain testing weld consumable and parent material logs.
  • Interface with other company departments for reports and information.
  • Promote and enforce safety practices in welding operations.
  • Identify and address potential safety hazards related to welding activities.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Welding Coordinator.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical education in welding and welding principles.
  • Education and/or qualification in industry standard non-destructive testing practices.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with welding and welding standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Technical aptitude and ability to understand basic quality concepts.
  • Proven ability to operate with integrity and handle confidential information.
  • Demonstrated a high level of service and ability to be proactive.
  • Ability to complete multi-step tasks and follow through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a team.

Additional Information

  • Position involves 30% to 40% desk work and the remainder in a shop environment.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception, and field of vision.
