Overview

The Welding Engineer III position is part of the Subsea Technologies Division in Stafford, TX, responsible for providing technical oversight for welding procedures and managing qualifications, while analyzing designs and reviewing customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily expert technical oversight for welding procedures and production issues.
  • Manage welding qualifications and create/maintain welding procedures.
  • Analyze designs for welding requirements and review customer welding specifications.
  • Participate and lead welding qualifications including procedure development and testing.
  • Establish welding procedures to guide production and personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Perform complex welding engineering tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Initiate and implement improvements in welding technologies.
  • Support lower-level Welding Engineers.

Requirements

  • BS Engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is required.
  • Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) is preferred.
  • 4+ years of practical hands-on experience in welding engineering.
  • Strong understanding of industry codes (ASME, API, AWS, DNVGL, etc.).
  • Experience with destructive testing, NDE methods, and arc welding processes.
  • Experience with welding parameters development and writing WPQR(s) and WPS(s).
  • Extensive knowledge of company welding and PWHT processes.

Additional Information

  • Onsite presence is required to perform essential duties.
  • Limited travel may be required to support offsite personnel.
  • Occasional remote access and evening or weekend schedules may be necessary.
  • The work environment is primarily indoors in a smoke-free facility.
