Overview
The Cook County Department of Facilities Management is seeking a Steamfitter to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain various piping systems under the general direction of the Steamfitter Foreman. This position requires a strong knowledge of the steamfitter trade and involves significant physical exertion and travel throughout Cook County.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems, fixtures, and equipment.
- Maintain steam heating plants, steam power lines, pumps, and oil lines.
- Inspect work sites for obstructions and structural weaknesses.
- Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and other workers' activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an approved Steamfitter Journeyman Apprenticeship Program or five years of full-time work experience as a Steamfitter.
- Valid certification in Pipe Welding recognized by the American Welding Society.
- Valid Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
