Overview
MJ Celco, Inc. is seeking a spot welder/PEM machine operator responsible for controlling and executing operations of various types of production machines in the manufacturing process. The role involves ensuring quality and productivity goals are met while adhering to standard work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Perform machine operation and limited dimensional inspection to detect defects or equipment malfunction.
- Engage in certification process training and provide quality workmanship with attention to detail.
- Execute all processes as per standard work instructions or company requirements without altering defined processes.
- Recognize and identify suspect and non-conforming parts and high failure risk process events.
- Stop the process if expected quality outputs are not realized and escalate issues to management if necessary.
- Fill lubrication systems and ensure accuracy versus specifications as applicable.
- Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance duties and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors.
- Complete and document in-process inspections as detailed on Operator Checklists.
- Assure proper use of all appropriate safeguarding and safety features at all times.
- Report inventory and labor data accurately and timely.
- Participate in continuous improvement with suggestions for material and parts flow, quality, or process improvements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work center environment.
- Participate in work center readiness audits and verify documentation of required approvals.
- Perform various other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience; vocational training or apprenticeship completion desired.
- Mechanical abilities and problem-solving skills are required.
- Constant visual effort and concentration; ability to work under loud noise and distractions.
- Lifting of 40 pounds is required, along with the ability to grip and use hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- General knowledge of metal stamping equipment operation.
- Use of precision measuring instruments and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Basic knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) concepts and ISO/TS16949 quality standards.
- Accountability for results; must be a self-starter with excellent attitude and attendance.
- Good math skills and ability to complete required paperwork.
- Team player able to work with production and management; customer focus is mandatory.
- Flexibility to adjust job schedule based on customer and production demands.
- Utilize and care for equipment as if it is owned by the employee.
