Overview

The New York City Police Department is seeking a Radio Repair Mechanic to enhance police radio communication systems, ensuring functionality and readiness across various platforms. The role involves installation, repair, and maintenance of radio and low voltage systems, contributing to the department's mission of public safety and community partnership.

Responsibilities

• Provide, maintain, and enhance all forms of police radio communication.
• Install, repair, and maintain portable and mobile radios.
• Install, repair, and maintain various critical low voltage systems across NYPD facilities.
• Ensure the functionality and readiness of mobile command centers with state-of-the-art communication technology.

Requirements

• Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a radio repair mechanic or electronic technician.
• At least three years of relevant experience plus sufficient training in electronics.
• Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
• Possession of a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) General Radiotelephone Operator's License with a radar endorsement may be required for certain positions.
