Overview

The Mechanic B L1-2 position at Facilities Operation & Maintenance requires a candidate with a minimum of three years of experience in building trades and the ability to read schematic and engineering prints. Candidates should possess knowledge in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, and painting, and must be capable of performing physical tasks in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
• Work at elevations in outdoor weather.
• Perform extensive walking, standing, lifting, and bending.
• Maintain a valid driver's license.
• Be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
• Become proficient with the Maximo work management system for time reporting and work order tracking.
• Perform general maintenance of buildings.
• Operate minor hand and power tools.
• Perform basic lighting and wiring tasks.
• Remove snow and ice using manual and powered equipment.
• Perform basic plumbing and pipe fitting tasks.
• Perform basic carpentry tasks.
• Troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Understand basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical diagrams.
• Perform basic PC functions to access and verify job-related information.
• Support the operation and maintenance of company facilities.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Execute work safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3-5 years of experience in building trades and ability to read schematics and engineering prints.
• 3-5 years of electrical and mechanical experience.
• Less than 2 years of experience using electronic work management systems like Maximo is preferred.
• Strong technical aptitude and mechanical skills.
• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

• Candidate may be assigned to any location within the CECONY regions.
• Position may require non-business hours during emergencies, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
