Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor 1 is responsible for supervising programs, staff, and operations at a designated facility, ensuring the maintenance and repair of park buildings, utility systems, and grounds. This role involves direct supervision of staff and coordination of maintenance activities while emphasizing health and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled staff in park maintenance and repair work.
  • Plans and lays out work, assigns staff, and provides instruction and assistance.
  • Prepares written reports in response to specific assignments and work orders.
  • Leads staff by emphasizing health and safety guidelines and evaluating performance.
  • Coordinates with higher management to address maintenance and repair needs.
  • Determines needs for purchasing materials and contractor services.
  • Completes purchasing requests and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluates park facilities for energy conservation and sustainability.
  • Sets standards and assigns tasks based on daily operational needs.
  • May serve as shift supervisor as needed.
  • Carries out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of trade experience after completing an apprenticeship or equivalent training.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for New York State.
  • Must be well versed in local building codes and understand building plans.
  • Must be well organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Additional Information

  • This position is 40 hours per week, with evening, weekend, and holiday work required.
  • May be required to report to other facilities throughout the New York City region as needed.
