Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility, executing capital projects, and performing high-level maintenance tasks independently to ensure timely production processes. The role requires a varied shift schedule with occasional overtime and weekend hours, but no travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Reassemble machines after repair or maintenance work.
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives to machines and equipment according to specific procedures.
  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
  • Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools and equipment.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Maintain PM completion rate aligned with MaintainX expectations.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines requiring repair.
  • Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
  • Transport machine parts and tools between work areas and storage.
  • Collect and discard worn machine parts and refuse to maintain work areas.
  • Clean machines and machine parts using various cleaning equipment.
  • Adjust, install, fabricate, and modify equipment to improve safety and quality.
  • Comply with regulatory and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot control systems, servo drives, motors, HMIs, and PLCs.
  • Calibrate controls instrumentation.
  • Maintain and enhance electrical and PLC troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical training and leadership to Maintenance technicians I & II.
  • Articulate machine issues to vendors and engineers to resolve technical issues.
  • Handle and audit preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Create or improve preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required or technical school.
  • Obtain and maintain OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Four to eight (4-8) years related maintenance experience.
  • Relevant Technical degree or certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and welding preferred.
  • Mechanical background with rotating equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • PLC knowledge.
  • Proven experience in electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Obtain rigging training and certification as needed.
  • Obtain welding certification as needed.
  • Knowledge of measuring gauges and various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to complete tasks.
  • Working knowledge of electrical codes including NEMA and NFPA 70E.
  • Industrial electrical AC/DC troubleshooting skills.
  • Complete knowledge of all plant equipment.

Additional Information

  • Expected hours of work are 40 hours a week with a varied shift schedule of 8-10 hour shifts.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend hours are required.
  • No travel is required.
