Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility, executing capital projects, and performing high-level maintenance tasks independently to ensure timely production processes. The role requires a varied shift schedule with occasional overtime and weekend hours, but no travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Reassemble machines after repair or maintenance work.
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair.
- Lubricate or apply adhesives to machines and equipment according to specific procedures.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair using hand tools and equipment.
- Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Maintain PM completion rate aligned with MaintainX expectations.
- Read work orders and specifications to determine machines requiring repair.
- Set up and operate machines and adjust controls to regulate operations.
- Transport machine parts and tools between work areas and storage.
- Collect and discard worn machine parts and refuse to maintain work areas.
- Clean machines and machine parts using various cleaning equipment.
- Adjust, install, fabricate, and modify equipment to improve safety and quality.
- Comply with regulatory and departmental policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot control systems, servo drives, motors, HMIs, and PLCs.
- Calibrate controls instrumentation.
- Maintain and enhance electrical and PLC troubleshooting.
- Provide technical training and leadership to Maintenance technicians I & II.
- Articulate machine issues to vendors and engineers to resolve technical issues.
- Handle and audit preventative maintenance procedures.
- Create or improve preventative maintenance procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required or technical school.
- Obtain and maintain OSHA 10 Certification.
- Four to eight (4-8) years related maintenance experience.
- Relevant Technical degree or certification preferred.
- Previous experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and welding preferred.
- Mechanical background with rotating equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- PLC knowledge.
- Proven experience in electrical/mechanical troubleshooting.
- Obtain rigging training and certification as needed.
- Obtain welding certification as needed.
- Knowledge of measuring gauges and various hand and power tools.
- Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of basic math, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to complete tasks.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes including NEMA and NFPA 70E.
- Industrial electrical AC/DC troubleshooting skills.
- Complete knowledge of all plant equipment.
Additional Information
- Expected hours of work are 40 hours a week with a varied shift schedule of 8-10 hour shifts.
- Occasional overtime and weekend hours are required.
- No travel is required.
